Pinewood Derby

Mason's pinewood derby was at the end of January. It was postponed by one week because of the rain and snow that we had the week it was scheduled.

Mason loves the pinewood derby (he even did his science fair project about it). This year he made his car a Rolls Royce.

I think he did a really great job.

There were so many different designs made by the boys this year. Mason's good friend, Kenui, made his car a Luge, complete with a clay rider.

(If you look closely, you might even see the iPhone that someone made.)

Mason's car did better this year than last. Last year his car wouldn't even make it to the finish line. The only way he could race it was to run it backwards. But his Rolls Royce was a much better car and he even won some races.

Everyone got excited when the cars raced. But I don't know who was more excited about the races, the Cub Scouts or Rainer.

Overall, Mason came in 4th this year and he won the "Most Realistic" award for his car design.
Since Mason is a Webelos, this will be his last pinewood derby. But he sure has had a lot of fun participating in them.
