Had I Been Thinking...

I would have taken a picture because words will not do it justice.

Here in Beaumont, we have a lot of ground squirrels. Across from the church is an open field filled with these creatures. I went to the church to set up chairs for primary and was stopped at the light. One little squirrel was brazen enough to run out into the intersection and stand up on his hind legs like, "Is there anything interesting going on?" I thought for sure some car was going to run it over. Just before my light changed, he decided that he'd seen enough and ran back to the field.

Once I was done at the church, I headed back home. Lo and behold, there was another squirrel holding up traffic. Across from me, there was a lady who was trying to make a right-hand turn, but was a good 10-15 ft. from the corner. I looked, and there in front of her car was another little squirrel, perfectly content to just hang out in the middle of the street. She didn't want to run over the little guy and I don't think he had any fear of cars. Unfortunately, the light turned and I headed on my way so I don't know how the lady got out of her predicament. But had I been thinking, I would have taken a picture with my cell camera while I waited for the light to change.
