Freeze!

(words will not do this blog justice--I'm hoping to get video soon.)

Spiderman's best friend in the whole wide world is Scout, Nancy's dog. When I go to Dad's to clean his house, I usually take Spiderman with me. Usually Nancy goes to Dad's when I'm there and she will then bring Scout with her.

Those two dogs love each other. If one of them isn't there, the other one wanders the backyard whining. They can barely contain themselves when they meet each other (week after week). While one is frantically trying to get out, the other one is frantically trying to get in.

Spiderman is probably 12 years old, has arthritis in both of his back legs, isn't as agile and limber as he once was, and doesn't have the same amount of energy as he used to. Scout is only a year old. He leaps about and does half twists in the the air and can easily outrun Spiderman. Despite all this, these two play and wrestle and just enjoy each other's company. Nancy and I love to watch them--it is quite comical.

After watching them for several months, we have noticed that they like to play a game that we call Freeze! The two of them will be play and growling, and wrestling with each other. Scout will be doing his bounding and leaping about and then all of the sudden Spiderman will bark. As soon as he barks, Scout will immediately freeze into whatever position he is in and stay that way for several seconds. Then the two will go back to playing and again Spiderman will bark and Scout will freeze in a new position. Today, while they were playing, Spiderman barked and Scout quickly dove under Spiderman to do his pose and freeze. Then when Spiderman barked again, Scout draped his head over Spiderman's neck in a cock-eyed manner.

Like I said, words do not do this justice--you truly have to see it to get the full benefit of this game and how funny it is to watch them.
