He is so cute and we had so much fun playing with him. We played tug-o-war with the rope and fetch with the ball. We even took him in the pool,
partly to let him cool off (it has been really hot these last couple of days) and partly to just let him swim--he is, after all, a water dog.
Rainer loved to carry his leash around. I think he liked having a dog that was small enough that he felt he could control. (Although...Spiderman is trained well enough so that when Rainer does walk him, he doesn't drag Rainer around.)
I'm not sure what Spiderman thought of the whole thing. At night we had the two dogs hooked together. Our yard is not secure, but Spiderman is trained to stay in our yard until given the OK to leave. We can leave our gate wide open and be gone all day and he won't step a foot beyond the gate. I didn't know if I could trust Duke not to make a mess while we slept, so I put him out with Spiderman. I think that after spending a night being hooked to a little puppy, he was grateful to be freed in the morning. Duke would try and get Spiderman to play, but Spiderman wasn't too keen on the idea. Duke would crawl all over Spiderman and bound and jump just out of Spiderman's reach. Duke would do a little yip like, "Hey! Come and play." but Spiderman would just lay there like, "I am too old for all of this, you young whippersnapper."
Each day when we woke up, Rainer would ask if we got to keep Duke (so far that is the name that Nancy likes, but she hasn't decided for sure). We had to keep reminding him that he wasn't our dog; he belonged to Aunt Nancy and they were going to pick him up. Rainer wasn't too sad when Todd and Nancy came to get Duke. In fact, he kept handing them the leash trying to make sure that they didn't forget him.
I'm glad we got the chance to watch him and play with him.
What a cute puppy!!!
