Our Last Summertime Hurrah

We decided to go to the beach one last time before school started. Nancy, Aaron, and Robert were able to come this time, but unfortunately, none of my other friends could make it the day we went. It was a beautiful day--not too hot and cool enough so that it was pleasant. It also helped that there was nobody at the beach...I guess that a lot of schools had already started.

We got there when it was low tide and so we found a lot of stuff washed up on shore.

Before Nancy got there, the kids and I climbed the rocks to the other tiny beach and checked out the tide pools there. We saw fish and crabs and muscles and barnacles and tons of sea anemones. Rainer loved touching the sea anemones =). Once Nancy got there, we then headed over to the other side to check out the other tide pools. We found a cave and there was a huge pile of rocks. Mason and Rainer couldn't help themselves--they had to throw those rocks into the back of the cave! What else would boys do with rocks? =) They had a lot of fun doing that and kept going back to throw them while we were at the tide pools. Nancy found some hermit crabs and the kids had fun watching them come out of their shells and walk around on their hands.

(when Nancy first put down the hermit crabs, Aaron promptly tried to eat one. I didn't get that on camera, nor did I get Nancy saying, "Now, don't eat it!")

We had so much fun that day. Two kids from church came with Nancy and Mason and Amanda played with them in the water. They had a blast. I'm so glad that we were able to go. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful summer! =)
