14 Years

(I know this is a little late.)

Our 14th wedding anniversary was at the end of March. I know...can you believe it?!

The last couple of weeks in March, Mason and Amanda (mostly Amanda) were busy planning for our anniversary celebration. I would walk into the room where they were and suddenly they were hushing each other and would not start talking again until I had left the room. I was told on more than one occasion not to go into a certain room because they were working on something. Crowns were made (I was asked to design my own) and confetti was made. Every few days Amanda would ask if Robert and I were planning on going out that night. I told her that we didn't have any plans to go out that night. She then changed tactics. She then wanted to know if that night Robert and I would go outside for a little bit and then they would call us back in. I told her we could do that. She asked about whipped cream and cherry pie filling. (At first I thought she was asking about a reward I had promised her--she had to have 30 consecutive days of getting along with her brothers. If she did that I told her I would make her any treat she wanted. She chose a pie.) As it turns out, she wanted me to make one for that night. That afternoon, after running some errands, Robert got home about the same time that I did. He and I were busy bringing in bags from the car. When we walked in the door we were greeted by a shower of confetti and our kids shouting, "Happy Anniversary!" It was really cute. I made dinner and a dessert and we watched a movie as a family. It was a really nice evening. When Amanda woke up the next day she realized that we didn't wear the crowns she had made, so she put mine on me and wished me a happy anniversary again.

I can't believe that Robert and I have been married for 14 years. It really doesn't seem that long and yet it almost seems longer--I know, that doesn't make any sense. I am very grateful to be married to a worthy priesthood holder who strives to provide for his family. I'm looking forward to many more anniversaries.

  1. Happy Anniversary!
I know what you mean... I feel like Rich and I have been married forever (in a good way) and yet, at the same time, I feel like we got married yesterday!

  2. I love it when children are old enough to plan surprises for you. One year for our anniversary, our girls decorated the house with paper streamers made with toilet paper. It actually looked very nice. They also made a huge "Happy Anniversary". Give your kids a hug for me.
