That is how Mason feels about April 1st. It is his favorite holiday, next to Christmas, and he actually counts down the days until it happens.
Somehow it slipped past him last year and he was not going to let that happen again this year. About mid-March he started planning what he was going to. He had pranks planned for his friends at school and here at home. He was a little bummed when he found out that he was going to be on Spring Break on April 1st, but that didn't deter him from planning things for his family.
He wanted to know if he had the green light to celebrate April 1st, or if he was going to get in trouble for pulling pranks. Even though I didn't know what to expect, I told him he wouldn't get in trouble. Last year his prank consisted of him mixing up all the cereals--which wasn't a big deal and kind of changed things up a bit from the usual. So, I figured he wouldn't do anything mean.
A couple of days before April 1st, he did a test prank. He put scotch tape on the bottom of the computer mouse so that the cursor wouldn't move. It took me a good two minutes to figure that one out, but I told him he had to wait a few more days before he could do his pranks. I think he just couldn't resist and he had to try something out.
Unfortunately, come April 1st many of his pranks didn't work. He put masking tape over the remote sensor, but he didn't completely cover it so it still worked. (I think he got that idea from the Science Center the day before--Thank you Science Center.) Some of his other pranks didn't work either and by the end of the day he was a little bit sad. We tried to cheer him up and by the time he went to bed, he was feeling a little better. He realized that since this was really his first year doing pranks, it was sort of his experiment year to see what worked and what he would need to do differently.
